Product Detail

Plastic geocells are a kind of geosynthetic material with a three-dimensional honeycomb-like structure made of polymer materials. They are widely used in various civil engineering fields due to their excellent performance and characteristics.

Material and Structure

  • Material Composition:Typically, plastic geocells are made from polyethylene (PE) or polypropylene (PP), with the addition of certain anti-aging agents, ultraviolet absorbers and other additives. They are processed through extrusion molding, ultrasonic welding or heat welding processes. These materials have good corrosion resistance, wear resistance and weather resistance, enabling the geocells to maintain stable performance in different natural environments for a long time.
  • Cell Shape:The geocells have a three-dimensional cellular structure that looks like a honeycomb, consisting of a series of interconnected cell units. Each cell unit is usually in the shape of a regular hexagon or square. The height of the cells generally ranges from 50mm to 200mm, and specific specifications can be customized according to the actual needs of the project.

Working Principle

  • Lateral Restraint Effect:When the geocells are laid on the foundation, slope or other positions and filled with materials, the sidewalls of the cells exert lateral restraint on the filling materials, limiting the lateral displacement of the filling materials and putting the filling materials in a three-way stress state. This improves the shear strength and bearing capacity of the filling materials.
  • Stress Diffusion Effect:The geocells can evenly spread the concentrated load acting on its surface to a larger area, reducing the pressure on the underlying foundation or structure. It acts like a "raft", effectively dispersing the load and reducing the risk of uneven settlement of the foundation.

Performance Advantages

  • High Strength and Stability:They have relatively high tensile and compressive strengths and can withstand large loads without being easily deformed or damaged. During long-term use, their performance remains stable, effectively maintaining the restraint on the filling materials and the load diffusion effect.
  • Good Flexibility:With a certain degree of flexibility, they can adapt to the slight deformation and uneven settlement of the foundation or slope, fit well with the foundation, and will not cause the material itself to rupture or fail due to the deformation of the foundation.
  • Corrosion Resistance and Weather Resistance:They have good tolerance to chemicals such as acids and alkalis and are not easily eroded by chemicals in the soil. At the same time, they can resist the influence of natural factors such as ultraviolet radiation and temperature changes, and maintain good performance under long-term outdoor exposure conditions.
  • Convenient Construction:Light in weight, easy to transport and install, and can be cut and spliced on site according to needs. The construction speed is fast, which can effectively shorten the project cycle and reduce construction costs.

Application Range

  • Road Engineering:Used for the reinforcement of road base and sub-base, it can improve the bearing capacity and stability of the road, reduce the formation of road cracks and ruts, and prolong the service life of the road. It is also used in railway subgrades to enhance the overall stability of the subgrade and prevent subgrade settlement and slope collapse.
  • Water Conservancy Engineering:In water conservancy projects such as dams and riverbanks, it is used for slope protection and anti-erosion. By laying geocells on the slope surface and filling with vegetation soil, it can effectively prevent rain erosion and water flow erosion, and is conducive to vegetation growth, playing an ecological slope protection role.
  • Building Engineering:In the foundation treatment of buildings, such as soft foundation and expansive soil foundation, geocells can improve the mechanical properties of the foundation, increase the bearing capacity of the foundation, and control the deformation of the foundation.
