The difference between drainage net and geogrid

Drainage network

Drainage network

一. Material composition and structural characteristics

1、Drainage net:

The drainage net is made of corrosion-resistant plastic material and has a three-dimensional mesh structure. So, it has very good water permeability and filtration properties. The core of the drainage network is composed of thick vertical ribs and an oblique rib at the top and bottom, which can form a three-dimensional structure, which can quickly discharge groundwater from the road and block capillary water. It has a needle punched perforated non-woven geotextile glued on both sides to enhance its filtration and drainage effect.

2、Geogrid:

Geogrid is a two-dimensional grid or three-dimensional grid screen made of high molecular polymers such as polypropylene and polyvinyl chloride through thermoplastic or molding. It can be divided into four categories: plastic grille, steel-plastic grille, fiberglass grille and polyester warp-knitted polyester grille. These materials are treated with special processes and have the characteristics of high strength, low elongation and corrosion resistance. It is a grid structure, so it can lock soil particles and improve the overall stability and load-bearing capacity of the soil.

二. Functional role

1、Drainage net:

The main function of the drainage net is to drain water and filter. It can quickly drain the accumulated water between the foundation and the substrate, block the capillary water, and can be combined into the edge drainage system. It can also play the role of isolation and foundation reinforcement, prevent the subbase fine material from entering the ground base layer, limit the lateral movement of the aggregate base layer, and improve the supporting capacity of the foundation. In northern climates, laying drainage networks can mitigate the effects of frost heave.

2、Geogrid:

Geogrid can enhance the strength and stability of soil. It can form an effective interlocking structure with soil particles, and improve the integrity and bearing capacity of soil. It also has the characteristics of strong deformation resistance and small elongation at break, and can maintain stable performance under long-term load. It can also improve the load-bearing capacity of the asphalt mixture and improve the load transfer performance of the road.

三. Application scenarios

1、Drainage net:

Drainage nets can be used in landfills, subgrades, tunnel inner walls and other projects that require drainage and reinforcement. It can solve the problems of poor soil stability and poor drainage, and improve the safety and service life of the project.

2、Geogrid:

Geogrid can be used in dams, subgrade reinforcement, slope protection, tunnel wall reinforcement and other projects. It can improve the bearing capacity and stability of soil, and prevent soil erosion and ground collapse. It can also be used in underground coal mine support, earth-rock anchoring and other projects.
