Geomembrane as anti-seepage material also has some noteworthy problems. First of all, the mechanical strength of general plastic and asphalt mixed geomembranes is not high, and it is easy to break. If it is damaged or the quality of the film product is not good during construction (There are defects, holes, etc )Will cause leakage; Secondly, the anti-seepage structure of geomembrane may be floated up due to the pressure of gas or liquid under the membrane, or it may cause landslide due to unreasonable laying mode of the membrane surface. Third, if geomembrane that is easily cracked at low temperature is used in cold areas, its anti-seepage function will be lost; Fourthly, general geomembranes have poor ultraviolet resistance and are prone to aging when exposed to direct sunlight for a long time during transportation, storage, construction and operation. In addition, it is easy to be bitten by rodents and punctured by reeds. Because of the above reasons, although geomembrane is an ideal anti-seepage material, the key to achieve the expected results lies in proper selection of polymer varieties, reasonable design and careful construction.
Therefore, when using geomembrane anti-seepage, the following basic requirements should be put forward for the quality and performance of geomembrane:
(1)It has sufficient tensile strength, can withstand the tensile stress during construction and laying, and will not be damaged under the action of water pressure during the service period, especially when the foundation is greatly deformed, it will not cause shear and tensile failure due to excessive deformation.
(2)Under the design application conditions, it has a sufficiently long service life, which should at least match the design life of the building, that is, its strength will not be reduced below the design allowable value due to aging within this period.
(3)When used in aggressive liquid environments, it should have sufficient resistance to chemical attack.
